Hi all again - not sure if anyone actually is reading this but hey at least if I say 'Hi' i cant be accused of being rude !
This morning i've challenged a good friend of mine to a "shoot off" on two themes. I've taken advantage of the competition themes in two photography mags i read and challenged my friend to get shot that signifies each of the following:-
"Dusk Till Dawn"
and
"Still Life"
Who know I might actually take a picture that technically isnt to bad. I shall post up the best pics for you all to laugh at, i mean offer criticsm and advice.

Photography Club Blues
This hobby drives me nuts if im honest about it. Focal length, aperture settings, good light, bad light - you get the theme ?
This year I decided to try and join a local photography club to hopefully try and get some helpful advice. I wanted to find like minded people who would provide me with the knowledge and help that will help me move onwards and upwards (so to speak).
I found a local group listed on the internet and duly emailed them (not once, not twice but three times). I was only asking simple questions e.g. do you support digital SLRs as well as film, do you offer an kind of training to new users ? etc. Almost a month later ive not received a single reply - NOT ONE !
So I guess its a case of going it alone and trying to stumble my way around the camera and hopefully pick up the skills my self.
Thanks for the help "LOCAL" Photographic Society you really have been great.

Where to begin....
I guess ive always wanted to "get into" photography from being about 12 or 13 years old when my cousin got a camera for her 18th birthday. Over the years I had numerous pocket cameras but the shots I took were always family snaps, non descript views that seemed like a good thing to shoot at the time and frankly hundreds of images of nothing really.
Two years ago (at age 34) I purchased a Fuji Finepix S3000 - wow. It really opened up the possibilities to what could be achieved and the sort of pleasure you could get from simply being out in the open with a reasonable camera.
Finally early last year I hit the jackpot in relative terms and bought myself a Nikon D50 digital SLR.
I guess this blog is really for me to indulge myself. Make myself believe people actually want to take a look at my shots. Well if your on the site long enough and ive actually managed to get some images posted then please take the time to tell me what you think.
Keep snapping !
